The St Christopher’s Educational Trust

The St Christopher's Educational Trust, which incorporates the Hughes and Stevens Bequest, was set up to continue the work of St Christopher's College in Blackheath. It aims to promote religious education in accordance with the principles of the Church of England.

The Trust is a Registered Charity Number 313864, in association with the National Society for Education (Church of England and Church in Wales).

Grants

The Trust seeks to support:

  1. Organisations developing opportunities for spiritual and faith formation of children and young people within the context of education and church. (Grants in the region of £20k-£30k)

  2. Individuals who are in (or training for) active Christian ministry with children and young people to enable them to access professional development or further develop their skills and expertise through research or other learning opportunities. (Grants or matched funding up to £3k)

In both categories we support activity that is in accordance with the principles of the Church of England, and trustees will prioritise applications where there is potential for wider strategic impact and influence.

We particularly welcome applications from people from priority communities and marginalised backgrounds to access academic study and theological reflection.

New Trustees

We are currently looking to appoint two new trustees. We seek individuals who have experience and knowledge of the focus areas outlined above in the trust purposes and aims, especially someone with links to schools or chaplaincy work. We are keen to enhance the diversity of our trustee board and so would particularly welcome expressions of interest from people of global majority heritage. Please make contact with our Chair of Trustees - Dr Sarah Holmes, if you are interested for yourself, or would like to nominate someone for this role.
